i think a high % of football fans could look at a back 4 that includes Lescott and Richards and expect the worst.

hypothetical punditry is the future. fuck what's happening in reality, instead speak about what might have happened if rudy gestede had proved to be a world beater and micah richards, the next baresi

Spot on, goose. What they've done is pretty much what we done a few years back. If you sell your better players without replacing them, eventually it will catch up with you and you'll really struggle. It's all well and good blaming this manager and that manager, but that process will get you nowhere most of the time.

Interestingly enough, it's the exact approach Alex V used to really enjoy.

Alex, what in your considered opinion, is the reason Villa are getting relegated, it can't be their signings because according to you, they were solid, it can't be the well regarded Remi Garde either?

Of you want my considered opinion, it's because they are fucking shit although they did play well against us at Villa park

"kneejerk results-oriented bullshit"

You do know that in football the goal is to get a result right?

I believed Villa would struggle this season and get relegated, I'm over the moon they are going to do it as the worst team ever.

Look at the signings I posted up, who would you take from them?

Me ? Not one of the cunts

There's upsets in sport every day of the year in every sport, but ON THE DAY.

I cannot recall any bigger shock in any sport at anytime than Leicester winning the league, a season long upset still unbelievable given the money in the game these days.

To a man noone gave them a hope of staying up, pundits labeled Ranieri a joke.

FANNY OL GAME INNIT

Vlaar left Villa last Summer.

Re: David Sullivan interview in the Daily Mail
I bet most start-of-season predictions had Villa down to finish above Leicester. It's very easy to dismiss everything they did now given their failure, and praise everything Leicester have done in retrospect. I completely reject the incredibly shallow kneejerk results-oriented bullshit that most pundits spout every day in the media - it's not worth taking any real notice of.

man city spent over £60m on two carthorses who are no better than Collins. im not worried about the 'big clubs' spending big again. I welcome it

what has happened to RON VLAAR???

where is he?? still injured but in the last year of his contract??

Re: David Sullivan interview in the Daily Mail
No doubt it will be tougher next season, but we're starting from a much better place than them. Playing catch up is difficult and they can't all get it right.

Also, I think we will finish above Leicester City next season.

I was listening to the MANDEE Night CLAB podcast & this season has been superb, best I can remember.

A point was made by one of the panel about Leicester, Spurs & Us being up there and it's great etc but we are benefiting from the big spenders under performing.

Chelsea, Liverpool, United & City are nowhere near firing on full power given the money spent.

I don't think our position is false but the four teams mentioned will spend the fuck out of themselves to readdress this season so we might find it tougher next season.

Did I read that Aston Villa's strategy of buying every footballer in Europe called Jordan plus plodders like Lescott & Micah Richards for £48m was 'fairly solid'?

"The high value you put on Bilic also doesn't really explain how we were 4th in the table last season at Christmas without him. "

Pretty straightforward, V son.
Seeing as you're a fan of the fixture list, we hadn't played anyone decent. When we did, we got stuffed. Our 'bonus games' which we got nothing from.
We got 46 points in our first season back, and 47 last season, so over a period of 3 years, we had gone precisely nowhere.

The TREND of losing football matches carried on into this season.
What changed is that the manager and his coaching staff got to work on the training pitch.
To be honest, the high value I place on Bilic is born out of facts. Anything else is just theory.

Far Cough 5:08 Tue Mar 22
Re: David Sullivan interview in the Daily Mail
I hate that possession thing, we have beaten all the top possession teams this season and lost mainly to the counter attacking sides like Leicester and Bournemouth, maybe we should learn how to approach sides that counter attack?

whufcroe 5:02 Tue Mar 22
Re: David Sullivan interview in the Daily Mail
Our Net spend has been so high because we've not had players to sell like other clubs, so whilst we maybe high in the table of Net spenders when you stack up the amount spent only and not what clubs have brought in then we've not been massive spenders.

It would seem the I/we are mostly I's Alex V, the squad was a decent base to work from in the summer and you put far to much importance on things like possession.

As for teams under performing, I fucking hate that, every season is different and the guard is changing, these clubs have been complacent, some badly run or managed and now they are reaping what they have sowed, nothing more.

I'd say where we are now in the league AND the cup explains it perfectly?
